Fall Colors Ride

On October 18th We went in search of Fall colors. We rode to Verdi to verify that Dog Valley rd. was  unpaved, Verified still unpaved, we did however see some nice Fall colors there as well as three pretty little doe deer. We continued on to Truckee CA. to the Donner memorial, after a visit to the wetlands there and the monument. We had lunch at Jax at the Tracks. Then rode up Hwy 89 around lake Tahoe with a stop at several scenic spots. Then around to Hwy 50 and back to Reno. The weather was just right, cool but not cold. the traffic was light. Great riding conditions. A perfect ride to end our riding season.

Susanville Ride

On Saturday October 4th The weather was so nice, Rather than ride to Schurz,NV. We decided to ride to Susanville,CA. The ride was great We stopped at Honey (dry) Lake. it is very sad to see it completely dry, the drought has really taken a toll in Northern California. We continued on to Susanville. Where we had lunch the delightful  Mazatlan restaurant the food was amazing.  on the way home we stopped by the Shoe Tree. We were able to see a donation being made. A young man from Susanville came to put another pair of shoes on the tree.

June Lake loop Canceled We Rode hwy 4

Due to the forest fires in the June Lake area. We canceled the June Lake loop ride. We rode Hwy 4 to Hwy 49 and Back home on Hwy 88. We stopped at the Alpine Lake lodge but the power was off so no food available there,   We stopped in Arnolds CA for lunch at Giant burger, they make a good burger there. and fast service too.  We stopped at several of the lakes on Hwy 4, a lot of beautiful little lakes on that road. The weather was near perfect, a little cool but not too bad, not much smoke from the forest fires burning to the North and South, I did see about a dozen rain drops on the face shield, and there were spots on both Hwy 88 and 49 where the road was damp. All in all it was a great ride.

I met up with STAR Touring chapters from Modesto Startouring Contra Costa Star Touring, and Napa STAR Touring. A group of about 15 bikes left Jackson Ca. headed for Mariposa Ca. down Hwy 49. It was a great day and a great group, we had a very good ride, and a fantastic lunch at Happy Burger in Mariposa. It was kind of a long ride 430 miles but the road is short when you have good company! Thank you Joe Silvey Pauline Carlton Victor Tibbs and everyone else that came along.

11 Summits Ride

The 11 Summits ride was a very good ride We were joined by Jan and Janice I very nice couple from Reno. The weather was just about right, not too hot or cool. We had a very nice lunch in Sierraville, at one of those restaurants that you would ride right by never knowing it was there. I was busy riding and did not get as many pictures as I would have liked to. I’lltry to get more pictures next time. All in all though it was a great ride.
